Chennai: The Chennai Egmore to Kollam daily express was set to begin its first journey today by leaving the Egmore station at 5pm.
A press release said the train will reach Kollam tomorrow at 8.45am.
“In the return direction, the train will depart from Kollam at 11.45 am and will reach Chennai Egmore at 3.30 am, the next day. Stoppages for this express are at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar Sivakasi, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sankarankovil,Kadayanallur, Tenkasi, Sengottai, Aryankavu, Tenmalai, Edaman, Punalur, Kottarakara and Kundara,” the release said.
It further said the train will have two AC three tier coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, two general second class coaches, and two Luggage cum brake vans.
The release further said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal was set to flag off the train via video conferencing from an event in Dharmapuri during which he was set to lay the foundation stone for the 36km long Dharmapuri to Morappur new railway line.
“He was also expected to announce the extension of Tambaram to Tirunelveli Antyodya express till Nagercoil,” the release added.
