Coimbatore: Tamilnadu Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani yesterday laid foundation stones for a botanical garden and a boat house to be built in Valparai.
The initiative has also aimed as part of tourism promotion plan and for generating jobs in the hilly area. While Rs 5 crore has been allotted for the garden, Rs 2 crore has been set aside for the boat house.
According to media reports, the botanical garden would come up on a 4.25-acre land in the municipal area, and the boat house would come up in the Chinnakkallar Nirar Dam. The tender process of the projects is said to begin in April.
An official press release said, a foundation stone was laid by the minister for 112 apartments meant for the poor and the needy in the hilly region.
