President takes part in Mahashivaratri celebrations at Isha

Coimbatore: Mahashivaratri is “one of the most endearing, enduring and significant festivals… It is a day to introspect and reflect upon the values synonymous with Lord Shiva,” said President Ram Nath Kovind addressing lakhs of devotees in front of the 112 foot Adiyogi statue at the Isha Yoga Centre at the foothills of Vellingiri.

President inaugurated the Adiyogi Divya Darshanam during the occasion. India is a land of faith and spiritualism and these have given India a certain determination and inner resolve. Each individual should strive to serve humanity as propounded by Lord Shiva that a worthy life is one that is lived in the service of others, said the President.

Recalling his visit to Vietnam, where My Son temple is located, he said a unique culture that drew from the spiritual depth of Hinduism in India had developed on the coast of present day Vietnam thousands of years ago.

“Adiyogi makes it possible for human beings to evolve beyond their limitations by doing the necessary work themselves,” said the president quoting the Sadhguru.

Heaping praise on the Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of the Isha Foundation, Kovind said, “The presence of so many young people here says a lot about the work of Sadhguru and Isha Foundation and he has ensured that the age-old spiritualism and values of India are made accessible to the youth, both in India and elsewhere.”

The Sadhguru had earlier in the day conducted a cleansing ritual called ‘Pancha Bhuta Aradhana’ for the president and he was taken on a guided tour of the Isha Yoga Centre. Also, on the occasion, the President along with Sadhguru planted a tree near the Adiyogi in honor of the Pulwama martyrs.
