Review: Boomerang – Double dhamaka

After Ivan Thanthiran, actor Atharvaa and filmmaker Kannan have come together for Boomerang. Unlike their previous venture, Boomerang speaks loud about need to protect our agriculture, fight against corporate and the need to preserve villages. An intense social drama laced with commercial elements, the movie has Megha Akash, Gopal, RJ Balaji, Upen Patel, Indhuja form part of the cast.. Music is by Radhan.

Atharvaa, who proved himself to be a versatile actor in Paradesi, dons a dual role. He manages to give his best and shoulders the burden well.
His body language and dialogue delivery deserve special mention.

The film opens in a hospital and Shiva, who suffered burn injuries in a fire accident goes for face transplant. Shiva gets a new identity post the face transplant. Interestingly, Shiva is chased by unidentified men. So he decides to go in search of the face that he got. A flashback reveals that it was Shakthi, who face was transplanted to Shiva. The entire plot unfolds here.

Giving good company to Atharvaa is Megha akash. She is bubbly and cute. Indhuja emotes well. She is the flesh and blood of the movie. There is RJ Balaji and Sathish who tickle your funny bone. Upen Patel’s role could have been extended. And Radhan’s music is peppy.

Though inspired by films like Yevadu and Kaththi, Bommerang can be watched for honest filmmaking.
