Hyderabad: With the Election Commission announcing the schedule for Lok Sabha elections as 11 April, the ruling party in Telangana TRS and its ally AIMIM welcomed it.
“I am thankful to the. I am very grateful to them. It’s very important that Andhra and Telangana will go into elections together. So, level playing field would be there for both the states,” said AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.
He also added that a good decision has been taken and hoped the people of Telangana would give a 17-0 verdict, that is, 16 for TRS, one for AIMIM. He further said that in Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSR Congress would definitely win more than 21 Lok Sabha seats of the total 25. He claimed that if TRS wins, then Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would be able to do much more for the State.
TRS MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy stated that his party was ready for the election and that announcement of candidates will be made at the time of nominations.
However, AICC spokesperson Sravan Dasoju made a statement that the coming elections would mainly be a contest between BJP and the Congress and that it would win 16 seats. The polls would not be a cake walk for the TRS he added. He further alleged that during the 7 December Assembly polls, the TRS had misused official machinery. He urged the EC to take strict measures to ensure that the elections are held in a free and fair manner.
According to media sources, State BJP president K Laxman would be attending an emergency meeting with party Chief Amit Shah in Delhi today.
The election notification in Telangana would be issued on 18 March and the last date for filing nominations would be 25 March. The poll for Lok Sabha elections would be held in seven phases starting 11 April to 19 May, and the results would be out on 23 May.
