Bengaluru: Amidst the growing ‘dynasty politics’ allegations against the JD(s) in Karnataka, former Prime Minister and the party’s supremo H D Deve Gowda yesterday announced that Nikhil, son of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, would contest from Mandya for the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at a party rally in Mandya yesterday, Gowda said that the party chose Nikhil as JDS candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency after consulting with all their legislators.
Reacting to the dynasty politics allegations by the BJP, Chief Minister Kumaraswamy said that he was not bothered about monetary gains and that Nikhil was interested to serve the people of the constituency.
He further claimed that farmers across the state have benefited from the farm loan waiver scheme implemented by his government.
On Wednesday, Gowda declared Prajwal Revanna as the candidate from Hassan constituency for the coming elections and launched his poll campaign. The Congress will contest 20 seats and JD(S) eight in the Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka. The deal was finalised by the two ruling coalition partners on Wednesday.
