Chennai: The city police arrested gangster Binu Pappachan (45) at Egmore this morning.
He was arrested while police were conducting a vehicle check. “Binu was caught along with two of his aides, Manoj and Aravind, while they were travelling in a four-wheeler early this morning at Gandhi- Erwin Bridge Road, Egmore. He was granted conditional bail by the a court last year, but in six days, he absconded,” sources said.
On 7 February 2018, the police stormed into a birthday bash organised for Binu by his armed associates and rounded up 75 goons on the Vandalur-Minjur Outer Ring Road.
However, Binu got bail from the Sriperumbudur court 23 June 2018 on the condition that he should appear daily before the investigation officer at Mangadu police station. But he did not turn up at the police station. When a policeman visited his house, he was found missing.
Binu is a native of Thrissur in Kerala. His parents have settled down at Vinayagapuram in Choolaimedu. He has at least 28 cases against him, including four murder cases reported in Thousand Lights, Koyambedu, Poonamallee and Arumbakkam.
He is now in police custody.
