Lankan refugee held for robbery at Valasaravakkam, Chennai

Chennai: A habitual offender, involved in breaking into houses in the city, has been arrested.

According to the police, 11 March, he broke into a house in Valasaravakkam and decamped with 15 sovereigns of gold. Based on CCTV footage, the police arrested Rajan alias Sivarajan (45), who lives in Annai Camp for Sri Lankan refugees in Madurai.

He has several theft cases against him, including one at Maduravoyal police station. The police are on the look-out for two of his associates.

The police recovered 87 sovereigns of gold from Rajan.
