2019 elections: 29 men and one woman have filed nominations

Chennai: Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo today said 29 men and one woman have so far filed their nominations to contest in the Lok Sabha elections in Tamilnadu that is to be held 18 April.

He also said three candidates have filed their nominations to contest in the Assembly by-election to be held for 18 constituencies.

He said 18,000 of the 31,000 licensed guns in the possession of the public have been surrendered.

“Seventy-nine  officials have been appointed as expenditure observers for the elections. Madhu Mahajan has been appointed as the special expenditure observer,” he added.

He further said about Rs 13.90 crore cash, carried without proper documents, has been seized.
