Chennai: Architects should understand and value the indigenous building construction with locally available materials, said Habitat Technology Group founder-chairman G Shankar.
He said this while delivering a lecture on “What do disasters teach us?” during two-day national architecture conference organised by SRM School of Environment Architecture and Design (SEAD) at Ramapuram recently.
Shankar spoke about the responsibility of architects towards climate change and the impact of built environment on the same.
Titled as HASHTAG ’19, the conference showcased the latest development in the field of architecture and 28 creative events were held.
More than 300 architectural students from across the country participated, a press release said.
