Kottayam: “I will vote for Surendran as he was the only candidate who visited my home seeking my vote. No decision has been taken so far on extending my party’s support to Surendran or other NDA candidates,” said Kerala Janapaksham founder and MLA P C George.
His statement comes hours after the BJP candidate visited him seeking his support. He is from the Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha constituency. He further said that a decision on his party cooperating with the BJP-led NDA in the coming Lok Sabha elections would be taken in two days.
It is to be noted that George had openly condemned the ruling LDF government over the entry of women into the Sabarimala shrine. He had also supported the protests held by several Hindu outfits over the issue. The BJP has fielded its strongman K Surendran from Pathanamathitta where the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple is located.
After the Congress leadership had failed to respond to his demand that his party be made a partner of the United Democratic Front, George had issued a statement that his party would be cooperating with the NDA for the coming polls.
