Coimbatore: A government bus carrying 26 passengers fell from a bridge in nearby Tirupur district yesterday. 14 passengers, including two children, were injured in the incident.
The bus was travelling from Pathanamthitta in Kerala to Bengaluru when the accident happened. It was alleged that the driver was reportedly under the influence of liquor and had lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle hit the parapet wall of the bridge and nosedived at around 3 am.
Police and Fire and Rescue services personnel helped in pulling out the passengers. The injured were admitted to the government hospital here. Further investigation is on.
