Kovai rape-murder accused thrashed by public

Coimbatore: Santhosh Kumar who has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting and killing the seven-year-old girl was thrashed by the public at a government hospital yesterday.

He was brought to the hospital for a medical checkup and he was being escorted by police to a van after the procedure when the incident happened.

He was rushed out of the hospital premises by the police. The crowd that had gathered raised slogans that such criminals should not be allowed to go free.

Kumar who was arrested on 31 March had allegedly confessed of raping and killing the minor girl.
