Chennai: Tasmac shops that sell liquor in Tamilnadu will be shut for four days owing to elections.
According to a statement issued by Tasmac managing director Kirlosh Kumar, the dry days are 16, 17, 18 April. Tamilnadu is going to polls 18 April for the Lok Sabha as well as State Assembly by-polls and, hence, liquor shops and bars attached to such shops are to be shut on the three days.
In his circular, Kumar cited a government order from the Home Department that liquor shops and bars should be closed from 10 am 16 April to 12 midnight 18 April.
Similarly, Tasmac shops and bars will be shut 23 May, when counting of votes takes place for the polls.
The Tasmac circular has asked its zonal managers, district managers and godown in-charges, liquor shops and bars attached to such shops to be shut on these four days to ensure there is no problem during elections and counting of votes.
