CPI hails SC order on leaked Rafale documents

Chennai/Coimbatore: “Truth has to be found out now,” said CPI national secretary D Raja, hailing the Supreme Court order allowing leaked Rafale documents to be relied upon by petitioners seeking review its judgment.

He further termed that this order by the apex court was a major setback for the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. He further stated that CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury had claimed it was clear that the government had concealed many truths regarding the aircraft deal.

Speaking to reporters, Yechury had said the Modi Government had hoped that this would not and further referring to Modi’s statement that Balakot air strike result could have been different if the Indian Air Force had the Rafale fighter jets, he questioned what was the reason for it. “Because you (Modi) renegotiated the deal, by overriding officials and multi-ministerial committees… There is a very, very big scam involved in the deal. Why did you renegotiate the deal Mr Modi, because there was a massive degree of corruption in this deal,” said Yechury.

Yesterday, Supreme Court had said that it will hear the review petitions in the light of new documents cited by petitioners alleging wrong-doing in the Rafale deal. The petitions are to be decided on merits and dismissed the government’s preliminary objections claiming “privilege” over them.

With the first phase of Lok Sabha election beginning today, the CPI-M wants a speedy hearing of the Rafale case.
