Chennai Spartans to play in Asian Club championship

Chennai: Chennai Spartans, who were crowned as the winners of the inaugural edition of the Pro Volleyball League as they beat Calicut Heroes in straight sets 3-0 (15-11; 15-12; 16-14) in the final, is all set to participate in the FIVB Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.

Announcing the move at an event, which was organised to commemorate the thundering success of Chennai Spartans, the team also unveiled its composition of FIVB Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship.

While expressing the words of gratitude, Chennai Spartans coach, MH Kumara said, “It’s a great victory, everyone contributed to the win. We don’t have one hero, but heroes, it’s a team sport. We came into the final with a lot of suffering and it prepared us for the final. When we assembled at the team hotel, I could see the players’ readiness for a match like this. The Chennai crowd made the victory possible for us,” he said.

“Winning of first inaugural league is like a Fairy Tale ending -Spartans is all about winning spirit embedded with highest order of code of ethics & disciplinary standards and we believe this will be the core recipe to win & create hallmarks for Chennai, which is the hotbed of Volley Aspirants,” said Chennai Spartans Corporate Branding Head, Uppiliappan Gopalan.
