2019 elections: At last, DMDK chief Vijayakanth campaigns

Chennai: Amid much expectations and arousing welcome by the cadres, DMDK chief Vijayakanth, who has been keeping a low profile due to health issues, campaigned for the candidates of the AIADMK-led alliance, Monday.

Seated in his campaign van, the yesteryear actor sought votes for his party candidate Azhagapuram R Mohanraj and Sam Paul (PMK) contesting from North and Central Chennai Lok Sabha seats, respectively.

Vijayakanth made brief remarks and asked the people to vote for the drum symbol of his party and the mango symbol of the PMK. He also asked public not to vote for Stalin.

Earlier, general public and party cadres turned up in large numbers at Villivakkam bus terminus to see Vijayakanth. The DMDK leader also campaigned in North Chennai, covering Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Royapuram and Thiruottiyur and finished the campaign at MGR Nagar Market that comes under South Chennai constituency.

The DMDK chief had returned from USA in February this year after medical treatment and had presided over an event in which his party entered into a poll pact with the ruling AIADMK. Campaign for the Lok Sabha and by-polls in the State ends today and polls will be held 18 April.
