Chennai: Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami extended Mahaveer Jayanthi greetings to the Jain community in the State.
The Governor, in his message said, “The influence and impact of Jainism in Tamilnadu goes backs several centuries. The Tamil Classics of the Sangam Era Sivaga Sinthamani and Valayapathi were written by Jain Monks. Bhagwan Mahaveer, taught us to respect the voice of the soul. His emphasis on the need to follow the path of morality and non-violence has always guided our spiritual orientation.”
“Let us follow the path shown by Lord Mahaveer and resolve to practice tolerance and mutual respect and tread the path of virtue in our daily lives,” he said.
The Chief Minister, in his message recalled the teachings of Lord Mahavir on Ahimsa and said the people should adhere to them.
