2019 elections: Voting extended till 7 pm in Kolathur

Chennai: Data is erased usually after mock polls are held in the morning before the actual voting.

However, at a polling booth in Triplicane an official had forgot to erase the data.

Getting reminding of this later, the data was deleted which caused a brief pause in polling.

About 500 residents of Nagaraja Kandigai in Gummudipoondi, coming under Tiruvallur Lok Sabha constituency, boycotted the elections as their long pending demand of addressing the pollution concerns from a factory have allegedly not been addressed.

The villagers registered their protest by tying black flags on the road. At Shenoy Nagar in Chennai and in Srivilliputtur, newly married couples cast their votes with garlands on their necks.

Time extended in Kolathur

Voting has been extended by two hours and will be held till 7 pm in Kolathur as polling was stopped for two hours in the morning.
