Tenali Raman stage play enthralls audience

Legendary director S P Muthuraman, director Kuzhandhaivelappan, and actor Aari along with hundreds in the audience enjoyed watching a comedy musical theatre performance, ‘Thuru Thuru Tenali Raman’ brought on stage by Bharatham Academy of Fine Arts at Vani Mahal, T Nagar on 17 April.

While Himaja and her troupe enacted the characters of the play on stage, R R Athulkumar conducted the live background music score. P L Rama played the titular character of Tenali Raman while Himaja portrayed King Krishnadevarayar. P L Rama excelled in her performance as Krishnadevarayar’s court jester. Her facial expressions and acting nuances were enjoyed by one and all in the audience.

A press release from the organisers said, “The stories that our ancestors told us taught morals. But today’s children are not in a position to grow up listening to these stories and they are instead growing up playing video games on their cell phones. The purpose of the enacting this drama is to impart the morals in the stories of our ancestors to the children of this generation.”

Bharatham Academy of Fine Arts in association with Royal Sakthi Charitable Trust, Indira Projects and Interview Desk brought the play on stage.
