Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today cast his vote at a booth in Ahmedabad in his home State of Gujarat.
The Prime Minister first called on his mother Heeraben Modi at Gandhi Nagar and sought her blessings before proceeding to the Ahmedabad booth.
After casting his vote, he told mediapersons that he had performed his democratic duty. He said he was lucky to be voting in his home town.
Comparing the act of casting one’s vote to having a dip during the Kumbh Mela, he said it was just as refreshing.
He further said as the bomb is terrorism’s ammunition, the vote ID adds strength to democracy. As it was that strong, people should understand its import and vote diligently, he pointed out.
This is the third phase of the seven-phase polls being held this year to elect the people’s representatives to the Lok Sabha.
