Chennai: “The heinous attack in which hundreds, including children and women were killed makes one shudder…whatever form terror may take; be it religion, race, or language, it should be defeated,” said S M Backer of the India Thowheed Jamaath (ITJ) condemning the serial blasts in Sri Lanka.
Expressing his condolences, S M Backer, who is the leader of ITJ located in Chennai, said It was an attack on the entire humanity and the people involved should be given maximum punishment and it must be carried out in the public, he said. He further added that as the deadly act was carried out on a day when a holy event by Christians was being observed, it could be construed that it was a well-planned and coordinated terror attack.
“The forces behind the attack should be identified and the Srilankan government should ensure that investigating agencies zeroed in on the real culprits,” he said. He also appealed to the Sri Lankans to maintain calm in these “grievous times and not give room for rumours and lend a helping hand to the affected people.”
On Easter Sunday, a series of bomb blasts tore through three churches and three luxury hotels killing 290 people. Eight Indian nationals were also killed in the incident and more than 500 people were injured.
