Chennai: Vellore Institute of technology (VIT), inaugurated its recent summer camp for school students. According to a release, 1200 school students have registered for this year’s camp, and over 16000 students have benefitted through this camp since its inception in 2004 with 450 students.
Inaugurating the camp, VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan said, “We have to make Vellore district number one in all spheres,We have to allot atleast two hours daily to play and exercise to keep our body healthy. If we have space for gardening we can get ourselves involved in gardening as it is also a good exercise,” he said and urged the people of Vellore district to make the district number one among all districts in Tamilnadu in all spheres, including education and sports.
VIT’s Department of Physical Education conducts the summer sport’s training camp every year. This year’s camp will go on till 13 May. The training takes place from 6.30 am to 8 am
at VIT campus daily.
Experts in the fields of Basketball, Athletics, Karate, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Throwball, Chess and Yoga train the students in their respective fields.Students from classes 6 to 12 get trained in the camp free of cost. VIT has also arranged buses to transport students from Katpadi and Chitoor bus stand to VIT campus, which the students can use for free.
