Chennai: Elections will be conducted for Nadigar Sangam soon as the present term of office-bearers has come to end, said vice-president, South India Film Artistes Association (SIFAA), Ponvannan.
Speaking to reporters after an executive committee meeting of the sangam here today, Ponvannan said, “We discussed ways and means to conduct the elections for the association at the meeting. We want a retired judge be appointed to monitor the same.”
Asked about construction of building at the Nadigar Sangam premises, Ponvannan, said, “Work is one at hectic pace. It may be completed in a year.”
The meeting also condoled the death of the association’s member J K Ritheesh, who passed away in Ramanathapuram recently due to cardiac arrest. Nadigar Sangam president Nasser was also present on the occasion.
Executive committee members including Prem, Sriman, Lalithakumari and Kutty Padmini among others attended the meeting. Genera secretary Vishal and treasurer Karthi could not attend due to their earlier commitments.
