Hyderabad: Women organisations members protested in front of a retired high court judge yesterday demanding his arrest following a dowry harassment case registered against him by his daughter-in-law.
The complainant along with some women organisations staged a dharna seeking the arrest of her father-in-laws and his relatives.
She also demanded to see both her children aged 3-and-half-year-old and another 18-month-old. The women held placards which read ‘we want justice’ and ‘hand over the children to your daughter-in-law.’
In her complaint, the woman had stated the cruelty she had meted in the hands of the retired judge, his wife and their son. The police has registered a case under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and relevant sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act, said a media report.
