Remember actress Vichitra? She shot to fame playing a glamorous role in Thalaivasal several years ago. Having acted in several films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, she chose to bid bye to acting after her marriage. After almost 18 years, she is back to what she likes the most – facing the cameras again.
Speaking to News Today, Vichitra, who resides in Mysuru, says, “I am happy and thrilled to stage a comeback. I want to do movies where I have a meaty role. Today, Tamil film industry has changed a lot. A lot of young filmmakers have come and women-centric roles are being written.”
Recalling her early days in Kollywood, Vichitra says, “I shared screen space with Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay. I came to the industry without any support. Over a period of time, I was given cliched roles. I decided I did enough and chose to bid bye to acting then.”
The actress, who was part of films including Rasigan, Muthu, Villadhi Villain, Asuran among others, says, “My family has been very supportive. My children encouraged me to make a comeback.”
She says, “I am happy that a lot of good films are being made in Tamil cinema and it is not hero-centric. I want to be part of quality films and entertain the audience.”
