Coimbatore: Monday being the last date for filing of nominations for the 19 May By-elections, AIADMK candidate P Kandasamy filed his nomination at the Sulur assembly constituency.
Kandasamy was accompanied by Tamilnadu Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani. Speaking to reporters, the minister said the party was united and there was no dissent in the party over the candidature. He also asserted Kandasamy will win with a margin of over 50,000 votes.
According to media a report, Makkal Neetdhi Maiam’s candidate G Mayilsamy also filed his papers yesterday. The poll has been necessitated by the death of sitting AIADMK MLA R Kanagaraj. Former minister Pongalur N Palanisamy is the DMK candidate.
