Chennai: Main opposition DMK today moved the Supreme Court against Tamilnadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal for sending notices to three AIADMK MLAs.
Dhanapal recently sent notices to legislators E Rathinasabapathy, VT Kalaiselvan, and VT Prabhu on the grounds that they are supporting AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran.
The action was initiated following recommendation by Government Whip S Rajendran. The DMK has also brought a no-confidence motion against Dhanapal.
In its plea in the apex court, the DMK has said since the no-confidence motion has been brought, he should not take any action now. The Supreme Court has said it will take up the case for hearing Monday.
Meanwhile, MNM founder Kamal Haasan has said his party will support the DMK’s no-confidence motion against the Speaker.
It is also said MLAs Rathinasabapathy and Kalaiselvan too have approached the court to prevent any action being taken by Dhanapal.
