Chennai: The fourth annual summer book festival will be held at Circle Library, 11th Avenue, Ashok Nagar, from 6 to 26 May.
Organised by the Directorate of Public Libraries, Tamilnadu, the book festival will be inaugurated by writer-cum lawyer Sigaram S Senthilnathan in the presence of District Library Officer S Elango Chandrakumar, 6 May, at 5.30 pm.
Books published by Sandhya Pathipagam, Rajmohan Pathigam and Om Sakthi Books International will be exhibited in the festival, said librarian K Deenadayalan.
The festival will display a wide range of books in English and Tamil like short stories, novels, poetry, history, essays, dictionaries, books on sports, health, biographies, spiritual and short comics, rhymes and storybooks for children. A 20 per cent discount will be given for all books.
Speaking to News Today, Sandhya Pathipagam chief editor M Natarajan said, “Around 10,000 books will be on display by Sandhya Pathipagam, Rajmohan Pathigam and Om Sakthi Books International.”
Sandhya Pathipagam will display books including on Tamil literature, and classical works from other languages that have been translated into Tamil.
Rajmohan Pathigam will bring out sports-related books and Om Sakthi International on English novels and children books.
“Anyone visiting the book fair and wants a specific book which is not available, we will make special arrangements to get the book,” Natarajan assured.
The book festival will be open from 2 pm to 8.30 pm on working days and between 11am and 8.30 pm on holidays.
