Chennai: The Thiruvarur town police has filed a case against DMK president M K Stalin under 171 (1G) for his indignant remarks against Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
During Stalin’s campaign for the Thiruvarur Assembly candidate Poondy Kalaivaanan and CPI’s Nagapattinam Parliamentary candidate Selvarasu, in Thiruvarur 20 March, he threw brickbats at Palaniswami relating to the Kodanad case. The AIADMK HQ took offense and filed a defamation case against Stalin, claiming it to be a canard.
AIADMK’s Babu Murugavel took the matter to Election officer and Thiruvarur Deputy collector Murugadas. Prakash of the DMK became answerable for being the one to request the DMK’s meeting in Thiruvarur. His answer, however, didn’t satisfy the Election officer following which the case is said to have been filed.
