Farmer in Telangana dies of suspected sunstroke

Hyderabad: A 50-year-old farmer who was guarding his paddy under the blazing sun at a procurement centre in Kamareddy district was found dead yesterday.

According to media reports, the deceased was identified as Gopal. Three days ago he had sold his produce and was reportedly waiting for transportation to send the commodity to the buyer. He slept on the paddy in the night time and kept guard during the day under the scorching heat.

However, on Wednesday morning, when members of his family arrived to the market and tried to awake him up, they found that he had died in his sleep.

Prima facie it appeared that Gopal died of suspected sunstroke. The police have registered a case under Section 174 of IPC (unnatural death) and are carrying out further investigation.
