Drunken driving: Two youth on bike killed in road mishap

Chennai: Four men riding on a two-wheeler under the influence of alcohol rammed against a tree, killing two of them at Mylapore here late last night.

According to the police, the group from Nochikuppam were drinking near a railway track. They were identified as Vishnu (29), an electrician with an IT company at SRP Tools, Venkatesan (28), who worked for a travels company on Mount Road, Bharathi Raja (26), a finance company staff at Parry’s Corner, and ‘Pavadai’ Rayan (22), a car driver.

At 11.55 pm, the four of them, all drunk, rode a two-wheeler into Papanasam Sivan Salai when Vishnu, who was riding the vehicle, lost control and hit a speedbreaker.

The bike skid, hit a tree and then collided against a wall. The police said Vishnu and Venkatesan died on the spot.

The bodies were sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The injured are undergoing treatment.
