Kamatchipuram in Chennai faces erratic garbage removal

Chennai: “Our street is being neglected for the past several months, with garbage dumped in the bin, scattered all along the road,” complained Baskar Iyer, a resident of Kamatchipuram First Street in T Nagar, Chennai.

Speaking on the issue, he said, “Due to the presence of food in the waste, stray dogs assemble in large numbers near the bin. This scares people who want to cross the area. When the matter was taken up with the concerned authorities, they promised to take action, but nothing fruitful has happened till date.”

The stench emanating from the place too is a huge turn-off for many. “I appeal the civic body to streamline the removal of garbage from the bin and also provide an additional trash can at the other end of the street,” he stated.
