Hyderabad: After an emergency call for medical attention to a woman in labour, a team of doctors from Apollo Hospitals yesterday facilitated an in-flight delivery.
On 8 May, when a woman passenger complained of labour pain, the flight transiting over India en route to Manila sought the medical help from the international Airport and it made an emergency landing at the international airport and the team of doctors, after undergoing thorough security checks, got onto the plane and ensured the delivery of a baby girl.
They, however, could not cut off the umbilical cord as they could not carry the surgical blade necessary due to security restrictions.
The baby and mother were both in critical condition when they were brought to Apollo Cradle in the city for further medical care. The duo have since recovered and are ready to make journey to their homeland, said a media report.
