Tamilisai claims DMK is in touch with BJP, Stalin calls it a lie

Tuticorin/Chennai: “On one side Stalin allies with Rahul Gandhi, Chandrasekhar Rao on the other, and Modi on another side,” said BJP’s Tamilnadu President Tamilisai Soundararajan yesterday, receiving sharp reaction from the DMK president.

Speaking to reporters in Tuticorin, Soundararajan claimed DMK is known for changing colours. Likewise, AIADMK leader and Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said DMK will talk with Congress, Rao and with BJP as it has the capability to sail in three boats at the same time. He also went on to raise the question as to why a courtesy meet between Stalin and Rao lasted for one hour.

A day earlier, Telangana Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekara Rao met DMK President at his residence in a bid to stitch up a non-congress, non BJP party or federal front at the Centre.

Stalin hit back at the BJP leader saying it was a blatant lie, saying he was the one who proposed Congress President Rahul Gandhi as the Opposition’s Prime Ministerial candidate, besides taking forward a campaign against Modi to unseat the BJP government at the Centre. Stalin claimed he would not indulge in any back door dealings and BJP was sowing confusion as it was on the verge of defeat.

Stalin recalled that he had referred to Modi as a fascist, sadist” and authoritarian whose government, he said, should be unseated for the “untold miseries inflicted on the people” in the last five years. The DMK leader noted he has been campaigning against Modi not only in Tamil Nadu, but had also spoken against him at the TMC-sponsored rally of opposition parties in Kolkata earlier.

“DMK has been transparent. It has said clearly who should be the Prime Minister and who should be not. DMK is determined that Modi should not become PM again,” said Stalin. “I am ready to quit politics if Tamilisai Soundararajan or Modi prove that I am holding talks with them to form a government (post-polls). Are they ready to quit politics if they fail to do so?” he asked.

TNCC President K S Alagiri said Soundararajan seems to be afraid. He said when West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had herself refused to speak to Modi over the cyclone Fani issue, what is Stalin going to discuss with the Prime Minister.
