Chennai: Hindustan College Chennai beat YBN College Ranchi by six wickets in the first match of the quarter final at Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019.
Hindustan College won the toss and opting to bowl, dismissed YBN College for 148 all out in 19.4 overs, chasing 149, Hindustan scored 151 in 16.4 overs to advance into the semi-finals.
Kavin from Hindustan College won the Man of the Match award for scoring an unbeaten 33 and also taking three catches and two stumpings.
The tournament saw participation of 30 city qualifiers and over 300 college teams across the nation. The following 8 teams qualified for the National Finals- Alfalah University Delhi, Raghu Engineering College Vizag, Hindustan College Chennai, SOA Bhubaneswar, YBN College Ranchi, MMCC Pune, LJ College Ahmedabad, DAV College Chandigarh.
The 8 teams are divided in two groups, Group A and Group B. The top two teams of Group A and Group B play against each other in the semifinals with the winners facing off against each other in the National Finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019 at the iconic SawaiMansingh Stadium, the home ground of Rajasthan Royals.
The few selected players will get a spectacular opportunity to be a part of the trials conducted by the team along with the possibility of getting picked in the next IPL auctions. Rajasthan Royals head coach Paddy Upton, batting coach Amol Muzumdar, bowling coach Sairaj Bahutale and young talented batsman Riyan Parag from Rajasthan Royals will be present for the final match on 17 May.
The National winner will then represent India in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Series Championship 2019.
