Aishwarya Rai shares a special bonding with ace filmmaker Maniratnam. She had acted in his directorial venture Iruvar, Guru and Raavan.
The two are coming together for the fourth time. Sources say that Maniratnam has approached Aishwarya Rai to play a meaty role in his dream project Ponnyin Selvan.
Interestingly, it would mean the actress appearing in a Tamil film after a long gap of nine years. In Bollywood, she was last seen in Atul Manjrekar’s Fanney Khan.
Ponniyin Selvan is Maniratnam’s ambitious project and sources say that it would be a multi-starrer with likes of Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Vijay Sethupathi in the cast. Music is by A R Rahman.
Interestingly, Maniratnam’s last Chekka Chivandha Vaanam too featured a bevy of artistes that included Arvind Swami, Simbu, Vijay Setupathi, Arun Vijay, Jyothika, Aishwarya Rajesh among others.
