2019 general elections: TN CM turns down exit polls

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said the exit polls results that said AIADMK will get less seats in the Lok Sabha elections are not ‘karuthu kanippu but karuthu thinippu’ (forced opinion).

Addressing mediapersons at the Salem airport, he said the AIADMK proved that the exit polls are not true when the party emerged victorious in the 2016 elections.

“We will once again win and show that the exit polls are false. The AIADMK alliance will win in all the 40 seats including one in Puducherry,” he said.

When asked about the steps taken to handle the water crisis in the State, he said the officials have been already instructed about the measures to be taken.

Speaking about the Chennai-Salem eight lane expressway project, he said the government will not support any scheme that affects the people. “Only seven per cent people are against the project. People should come forward and extend their support considering their and nation’s welfare,” he said.

On the release of the Rajiv Gandhi convicts, he said the cabinet has already passed a resolution to release them and has sent it for the approval of Governor. “It is up to him to take a call on it,” he added.

Meanwhile, DMK president M K Stalin said that he does not believe in the exit polls, whether it is in favour or against the party. “We will get to know the people’s verdict on 23 May,” he said.
