2019 polls: BJP-led NDA establishes early lead in over 250 LS seats 

Chennai: Counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha that would decide the fate of the NDA allaince, began this morning amid tight security.

Early trends indicate a huge lead for the BJP-led NDA alliance as they have established a good lead in over 300 seats.

The Congress-led UPA was leading in 100 seats, while others, including TMC, SP and BSP, are leading in 91 seats.

In Tamilnadu, the DMK alliance was ahead in 33 seats. AIADMK was up in 4 seats.

At high-profile Amethi constituency, where Congress president Rahul Gandhi was contesting, he was trailing behind Union Minister Smriti Irani, while Narendra Modi is leading in Varanasi.

Among the high-profile BJP candidates currently in the lead are Amit Shah (Gandhinagar), Hema Malini (Mathura), Gautam Gambhir (East Delhi) and Sadhvi Pragya (Bhopal).
