When it comes to Cannes, two things matter most to this beautiful beach town; films and fashion. Every year, groundbreaking films get released during its world renowned cinema gala, the ‘Cannes Film Festival’. It’s also the time when celebrities set the red carpet on fire, thanks to their flamboyant display of jaw-dropping sense of fashion. The festival which started on 14 May will go on till 25 May. * Mastani’s piercing eyes
Deepika Padukone wore a custom monochrome Dundas gown on her first day at the film fest. The graphic gown had a plunging neckline with a huge black bow and a long train. She coupled this chic look with dramatic eye makeup and a sleek high ponytail. On 17 May, the actress wore a custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture 14 tulle gown. This gown stood out for its effervescent lime green colour that Bollywood star wore along with the Siena headwrap.
* Mrs Jonas
Priyanka Chopra made her red carpet debut in a shimmering black Cavalli dress. On her second day, PeeCee donned a sky blue regal satin gown with a statement lace belt which she wore with a classy hat. With a deep plunging neckline and lose sleeves, Priyanka Chopra looked posh alongside her husband Nick Jonas. On the second day, she described her look as a ‘cloud of tulle’ on her Instagram story. The actor wore a pristine white layered gown from Georges Hobeika and she accentuated her look with a diamond necklace and earrings from Chopard.
* Gold and bold
Kangana Ranaut was a total diva on her first day at Cannes as she wore a custom corset designed by Falguni Shane along with a beautiful gold Kanjeevaram saree. For her red carpet look, she chose to wear a delicate pink couture gown with a long train and a sleek body design by Micheal Cinco. She accessorized the look with jewels by Chopard.
* ‘Aish’ the way
Aishwarya Rai walked down the red carpet dressed in a Metallic golden gown with a long trail that resembled a mermaid’s tail. The gown had embossing similar to snakeskin. The fluorescent gown designed by Jean- Louis Sabaji caught sunlight in all ways, changing colours from gold to green and yellow. For her second red carpet appearance, Aishwarya wore a white strapless gown, featuring feather-motif adorned corset with tulle detailing. Her skirt also had side slits and she completed her attire with a faux fur scarf.
* Suit up
Sonam Kapoor slayed the red carpet at French Riviera on 21 May in an all-white ethereal look put together by a power suit by Ralph and Russo. She donned the look with an elegant green neck piece by Chopard for the screening of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. The belt on her waist was adorned with a long, stunning train. Film festivals like the Cannes continue to spice up every year, thanks to the attendees head-turning fashion statements.
