Book on ‘Architects of Japan’ released in Chennai

Chennai: Consul General of Japan in Chennai Kojiro Uchiyama released the book, ‘Architects of Japan’, on Friday to celebrate the start of the Reiwa era in the Asian country.

The book details the events of the Heisei era in Japan corresponding to the reign of Emperor Akihito from 1989 to April 2019 and the start of the Reiwa era this year following Akihito’s abdication and the ascension of his son Naruhito to the throne to become the 126th Emperor of Japan.

The relationship between India and Japan are also shown through photographs in the book. On the occasion, Consul General Uchiyama said the new era will bring peace and prosperity in the country as well as to the world by facilitating a good relationship with other nations. “We should never forget about our history. We must follow the past Emperor’s words and spread peace and prosperity in this world,” he said.

He also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his victory in the general elections in India and his continuation as Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy for the second term.

The event was organised by the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussions on ‘Ushering in a new Japanese Imperial Era – Reiwa’ and ‘Reminiscing Heisei Era’ were also held.
Former West Bengal Governor Gopalakrishna Gandhi, KPC Ltd managing director V L Indira Dutt, Kasturi and Sons Ltd director N Ravi and IJCCI president N Kumar participated.

They said India and Japan will build a strong bridge through the mingling of culture and tradition of the two countries for the collaboration of art and business to strengthen the Indo-Japan relationship.
