Chennai: A lorry rammed three persons, one of them a woman, at Anakaputhur, Pallavaram, last night leaving one dead.
According to the police, the victims were conservancy workers at Pallavaram Municipality on a temporary basis.
The three were identified as Murugan (32), his wife Kalaivani and her brother Kadhir (26). “They had completed their work for the day and were being dropped in a Tata Ace near Saravana Stores, Anakaputhur. The trio got off the vehicle and were waiting to cross the road to the bus stop when a lorry, driven recklessly, came towards them. It hit the Tata Ace and rammed into them,” the police said.
Murugan died on the spot. Kalaivani has been admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital and Kadhir is undergoing treatment at Chrompet Government Hospital.
The lorry driver fled the spot. Chrompet Traffic Investigation wing has registered a case.
