Tamilnadu will not accept imposition of Hindi in any form: Jayakumar

Chennai: Fisheries Minister and unofficial spokesperson of the AIADMK government, D Jayakumar, has said the government is committed to two-language policy in Tamilnadu.

Speaking to reporters this morning, the Minister said the State will not accept the imposition of Hindi in any form or under any circumstances.

Defending Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami tweeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to introduce Tamil in north Indian schools, he said it was out of love for the language that he had done it. (The tweet was taken down hours later, following a brouhaha from among political leaders, accusing the Chief Minister of supporting the three-language policy of the Central government.)

Palaniswami merely wanted to spread the ancient Tamil language among the other States and it was not an endorsement of the three-language policy, clarified Jayakumar.
