Three more held in TN gold jewellery robbery case

Coimbatore: A day after the police arrested four people of a gang, including a woman, for robbing a jewellery shop employee of 840 grams gold worth Rs 16 lakh, three more have been nabbed in connection to the case.

According to media reports, the employee who was working in a jewellery shop was travelling with the gold on his two wheeler on Tuesday, when the incident happened.

A man on a motorcycle rammed the victim’s vehicle at Ramar Koil street. Meanwhile, two others on another two wheeler snatched the ornaments bag and fled.

The whole incident was recorded on a CCTV camera, said a report. The footage helped the police nab Raja, who had allegedly rammed the victim’s two-wheeler. After interrogation, the officials arrested Badrinath, a former employee of the jewellery store.

The accused had reportedly tipped the others about the jewellery worker’s travel plan and two others, Daniel and his wife, a law student, were also arrested.
