Chennai: The ruling AIADMK today said legal action will be initiated against media houses if opinion is sought from people who are not authorised by the party.
A press statement addressed to the media organisations from the party headquarters said, “It is well known that the AIADMK has appointed spokespersons to convey the official developments related to the party. You would also accept that it won’t be right to get the opinion of people other than the designated persons.”
It further said “henceforth we ask you (media) not to call anyone as the party’s representatives or associate anyone else with the party and seek their opinion.”
“In case this is violated the party will not take responsibility of the opinion of the person. We hope that you (journalists) will not force us to take legal action in this issue,” the release added.
The statement has come a day after the party’s MLAs, MPs and district secretaries meet in the city in which AIADMK functionaries were asked not to speak to the media about the party and its leadership.
