Chennai: World Milk Day was observed by UN (FAO) to mark the contributions of the dairy sector to economic development, farmers, and nutrition.
On these lines, a program was organised at Thiruvanmiyur beach by Vaishnavi Trust, Chennai, which works on addressing malnutrition of under-privileged children, by providing milk.
Rose milk too was distributed to more than 1,000 people and pamphlets on the goodness of the drink were distributed.
Glasses of milk were given away by East Coast Beach Walker Association (ECBWA), president R Vivekanandan and sports committee member Arulraja.
A press release said, the theme for this year was ‘Drink Milk: Today and Everyday.’ The aim was to educate people about the importance of the drink in maintaining good health.
