Chennai: Actress Varalaxmi, daughter of former Nadigar Sangam chief Sarathkumar, today hit out at Vishal for releasing a video for the elections to the artistes association in which he spoke bad about her father.
Nadigar Sangam goes to polls 23 June in which Vishal-Nasser’s Pandavar Ani will lock horns with Bhagyaraj-Ishari Ganesh’s Swami Sankaradas Ani.
As part of the campaign, Vishal released a video in which he highlighted the welfare measures initiated by his team after elected to office, a few years ago. In the video, there were a few clips where the office-bearers spoke against Sarathkumar and Radha Ravi.
Apparently annoyed, Varalaxmi has tweeted her displeasure. She wrote, “I am saddened and shocked at how low you have stooped down in your election campaign video. Any respect I have left for you is gone.”
She said, “It’s so sad to see you harp on my father’s past especially when you have not been able to prove that. Since you keep saying that law is the highest, according to the same law, any person is innocent until proven guilty. If he was guilty, he would have been sentenced now.”
Varalaxmi added, “Have some class and grow up. When you make such cheap videos, it shows your class and grow up.”
“I guess cos that’s the way you are brought up. Let’s not behave that we all are saints. If you are proud of what you have done why don’t you showcase that instead of bringing down my dad when he is not involved this time. All this time, I respected and been there as your friend always. Now you have taken it too far. You are a true actor at least off screen after all. I really hope the truth prevails.”
Sarathkumar today said he would not comment on Nadigar Sangam elections since he was no more a member of the organisation.
