Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress unit yesterday announced that based on the proposal by KPCC, the All India Congress Committee has approved to take action against MLA R Roshan Baig for his alleged anti-party activities and thus suspended him.
Recently, Shivajinagar MLA Baig had expressed displeasure over the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
Not only did he hint at quitting the party, he also accused Siddaramaiah’s arrogance and KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao’s immaturity for the poor election results. He even called AICC general secretary K C Venugopal a buffoon. Baig appealed to Muslims to compromise with the situation, on NDA returning to power, thus adding fuel to fire.
Following his comments, the Karnataka PCC had issued a show cause notice to Baig for his conduct.
Meanwhile, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao yesterday Baig’s alleged links with IMA jewels scam would be brought to the notice of central leadership for further action.
Revenue minister R V Deshpande had on Monday revealed that Baig had introduced the firm’s owner Mohammed Mansoor Khan to him about two months ago but denied doing any undue favour.
