E-waste dropping event in city 30 June

Chennai: In a move to make Nungambakkam green, an e-waste dropping event is to be held 30 June from 10 am to 12 noon, by the Residents’ Welfare Association of Mahalingapuram, Nungambakkam.

Speaking to News Today, Shanthi Ulhas, association president said, the aim is to inculcate a habit of disposing e-waste responsibly, instead of simply dumping it on the road sides. The slogan of the event is ‘Let’s make our earth go green.’

Urging all residents to start cleaning their homes, segregate the waste and keep it ready, she says that the initiative is not just for those in Mahalingapuram.

“Anyone can come and take part. The waste should be brought in cotton bags, that can be taken back after the event. The trash should be dropped at the tree in front of Swati’s Parvati Apartments, Madhavan Road, Mahalingapuram,” she said.

Lakshmi Devi, a longtime resident of Valluvar Kottam High Road and a regular to the Ayyappan temple here, also noted that this initiative should be appreciated. All of us should do our part to keep the environment clean and green.
