Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said linking of Godavari and Cauvery rivers is the dream project of the government.
Speaking at the review meeting of the Public Works Department held at the Secretariat today, he said several measures are taken with respect to water management.
“The interlinking of the rivers would be huge boost for agriculture in the delta regions. I have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to complete the project when I met him,” he said.
He also said work has been completed in the 1,311 out of the 1,511 waterbodies under the Kudimaramathu scheme which was approved in 2017-18. Similarly the work on 1,829 waterbodies approved in 2018-19 have also been asked to be completed at the earliest.
He further said the government will continue to implement the rain water harvesting scheme which is the pet project of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
